Thresholds and Openings

The class will focus on methodologies that prioritize modes of perpetuation infused with principles of Butoh, that support and heighten attention and intensities. We will fluctuate between improvisational practices that push the thresholds of our momentum and intentions and seek openings into new unknowns. Influenced by my collaborations with Steve Paxton, Jeanine Durning, and Kota Yamazaki, this workshop offers frames that liberate materiality existing below the skin’s surface, encourage movement between physical qualities and psychological states, and invoke freedom, imagination, and rebellion. The workshop is suitable for all levels.
